Cate Heaman is the CEO of Prelude Solutions where they help businesses and organizations optimize, design and implement the company’s entire communication services platform, help them find savings and make recommendations for future services. It was founded in 2005 and was re-imagined in 2016 to focus on just pure consultative approach.

What best works for a business like theirs is a company or organization with more than 100 employees that have people on the road. Professionals or employees who normally work outside the offices are using company phones. Prelude Solutions prefers businesses in the pharmaceutical industry since people are usually field-based.

Cate revealed that it was her background in sales that made her business successful in just a short span of time. Networking played a great part in this success, it has given 45% increase in her business. But sales and networking are two different things. Wonder how she was able to separate the two and became successful? Below are some tactical tips and takeaways that Cate believes everyone should practice in order to succeed.

1. Join a networking group - she founded a networking called ENRGY which is a network

referral group designed for members to learn from each other. How they can strengthen relationships with their prospects and customers by referring trusted and like-minded partners for additional areas of products and services.

2. Meet people - Talk about your business, what you are looking for, who do you want to speak to, who are the key people that helped you get into other businesses. The reality of doing that is making sure you get an introductory email (has to be simple and on point). Always make a follow-up

3. Refer other people at the end a business presentation - This helps her business big time. What she does is at the end of her presentation, she also includes a list of other companies or industries that might be of help to her client’s business.

The most important thing to remember is to connect with people. If you can do it in the moment, do it. Don’t wait for the next hours or the next day. Always follow through what you said you’re going to do.
