Business Optimization Through Public Cloud with David Collins

In this episode, Ashley Owens interviews her Mastermind co-member David Collins as they discuss the importance of optimization in the business through public cloud. He will also share with us his practical tips and takeaways when networking.

David is the Senior Solutions Specialist at Logic Works. They offer secure, high-governance cloud solutions for financial services, healthcare, and software-as-a-service applications. They manage AWS, Azure and Hybrid environments for organizations around the world. As the only AWS Premier Partner with more than 22 years of experience in enterprise IT, they are uniquely capable of managing large-scale, complex, data-rich applications in AWS, Azure or a Hybrid Cloud deployment.

David is an experienced sales professional and has over 10 years of experience in the technology industry specifically focused around cloud technologies and helps companies optimize their environments in the public cloud. His job is to go out there, evangelize what they do and help clients bridge the gap from the beginning of the process all the way down to working with their professional services.

Their company is like a broker in the sense that they take what the client needs and where they want to get to these public cloud platforms. They help them execute upon getting there and also help their accounts once they get there. Logic Works is basically like a one-stop shop where there is no need to buy equipment and firewalls because all of these are already built, it’s just a matter of clicks.

Now switching topic to networking, as a power networker, David will be sharing with us a few tips on how to be successful in networking events:

1. Talk about just a basic idea about your company - Do not oversell yourself

2. Get into a comfortable situation - Ask them what they do, who they work for, what they like to do. They'll then start to ask you what you do and that’s the time that you make them understand what exactly is it that you do

Top 3 things to do on networking events:

1. Going in and being social - don’t forget to take down notes

2. Being open to new people - being kind is very important

3. Showing people that you will follow through - if you find someone that is a great fit, make sure that you follow through. Always do what you say you will do.

Basically, you just need to find a common ground and then work from there. Build that trust from the very beginning. Take the time to make people understand what you do and instead find ways to make them feel that you're interested in them and what they do. When the conversation starts to move forward that's how you start talking about how you can help them. Because no one cares what you do. They care about how you are trying to be genuine.
